What Is Scrip?
Scrip is a term that means “substitute money”. When you purchase Scrip, you’re purchasing negotiable gift certificates and prepaid cards that are used just like cash. You can use Scrip to purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing, and other essentials, and with every purchase, you earn revenue for our organization.
How Scrip generates revenue for St. Katharine Drexel
The companies buying the scrip act on the St. Katharine Drexel and The Great Lakes Scrip Center acts on behalf of churches, schools and other non-profit organizations to purchase large amounts of Scrip from grocery stores, department stores, and other retailers. Because the Scrip is purchased with cash up front, the participating retailers offer a substantial discount. St. Katharine Drexel buys the Scrip at a discount, and re-sells the certificates to families for full face value. The discount - from two to fifteen percent or more – is our church’s revenue.
Two Ways to Purchase Scrip
1) Buy after Masses - St. Katharine Drexel orders Scrip from the Great Lakes Scrip Center. Pick up or
download and complete the Scrip order form and drop the form off at church with your payment. Your Scrip will be available the following week for pickup. You can check out the Great Lakes Scrip Center website at
www.glscrip.com to see a list of businesses providing Scrip to St. Katharine Drexel.
2) Order Scrip Online - If you would like the option of buying your Scrip on line, you can now sign up to order all your Scrip cards online! All you have to do is go to
www.shopwithscrip.com. Click on the green box on the left that says "Family Sign Up", go in there and follow the instructions. You will need the enrollment code so that you are linked up to SKD; it is
F491E18521926. You will need to sign up for PrestoPay at the same time because those will be the only orders that we will be accepting; the ones already paid for.
