Shared Ministry Position Description
Position:
Greeter
Purpose of Position:
To warmly greet all parishioners and visitors, and to communicate a sense of welcome and hospitality to all who come to worship.
Responsibilities:
- Attendance at scheduled Masses as assigned.
- Securing of substitute when unable to attend.
- Appropriate dress: shirt with collar, casual dress pants (no jeans), etc.
- Encourage/facilitate use of nametags
- Hand out worship aids
- Make special note of visitors/new parishioners and make special effort to make them feel welcome; introduce them to other parishioners.
Qualifications:
- Out-going personality; enjoys smiling
- Good communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Self-starter
Amount of time required:
- 25 minutes prior to Mass for set-up and manning entrances until 10 minutes after Mass starts (beginning of the readings).
- 15 minutes after Mass to wish parishioners a good day and to collect/organize name-tags
When ministry is performed:
Saturday afternoon and/or Sunday morning Masses, as well as Feast days.
Length of Commitment:
Up to 2x per month for 1 year (September-August)
Training provided:
Annual training; mentoring as needed.
