Mission trips. It may seem like a very simple thing but mission trips are locked in as one of the most important events in my life. The value and lessons they have provided me throughout the years cannot possibly be described in words but I will do my best.
Going on mission trips has formed me into the man I am today and each trip that I go on, I get something new out of it. You never know what you’ll get out of a mission trip and that’s one of the many reasons I love doing them. Before going on mission trips, my faith was steady, meaning that I went to church every sunday and participated in events but I didn’t realize just how much I was missing until I went on a mission trip. God called to me and showed me what my purpose on this earth is: to help other people, no matter how it may affect you. But with that, he showed me that I didn’t have to do it alone. The people around me at my church, who have been with me on mission trips is truly a gift from God. I can’t imagine going on these trips without them and especially this year with being my first mission trip since COVID struck.
The goal hasn’t changed from previous mission trips but this year I especially want to get one thing out of it more than anything else: I want to see people smile again and see their faces be filled with light instead of darkness that’s engulfed people for over a year. That’s the new added goal that I want to accomplish this year on this mission trip. I’m excited for what’s to come, with new adventures but also a continuation of growth in my faith. First and foremost, though, I want to go the mission trip to help others.
